History of WZL No. 2
History of Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze No. 2 S.A. is inextricably linked with the history and development of Polish military aviation.
1923
Poland regained the airport and technical hangars (today's facilities of WZL No. 2 S.A.) under the Treaty of Versailles.
1946
Establishment of Mobile Field Workshops. This year marks the beginning of the company's existence. Renaming the Mobile Field Workshops to Aviation Workshops No. 1, where post-Soviet equipment was repaired, including: Po2, Yak-9, Il-2.
1957
Aviation Workshops No. 1 changes into Aviation Repair Plants No. 2. This is the moment when the renovation of jet aircraft began. The planes were produced under a Soviet license, among others. Mi-15, MiG-17, Lim-2. Lim-5. Lim-6. During the key period of the Cold War, the plant repaired approximately 100 aircraft a year. This coincided with a breakthrough moment in the development of the Air Force, whose fleet numbered approximately 1,000 aircraft per year.
1982
Aviation Repair Plant No. 2 will now become Military Aviation Plant No. 2.
1989
Commencement of renovations and repairs of Su-22 aircraft.
1997
Completion of the first renovation of the MiG-29 aircraft, after winning the tender for repairs of this type of aircraft.
2008
As a result of commercialization, the company was transformed into a joint-stock company.
2010
Establishment of an authorized Service Center for Cirrus aircraft.
2010
The beginning of servicing the C-130 aircraft.
2011-2014
Implementation of the contract for retrofitting 16 MiG-29 aircraft of the Polish Air Force.
2011
Completion of the overhaul of the prototype Mi-8 helicopter. Obtaining the authorization to perform serial overhauls of aircraft of this type.
2013
The beginning of the operation of the F-16 National Service Center.
2014
Entry into the PGZ Capital Group.
2015
Commencement of PDM (Programmed Depot Maintenance) of the C-130 aircraft.
2015
Implementation of verification overhauls of 16 Su-22M4K and Su-22M3K aircraft.
2016
Putting into operation a hangar complex for large civil and transport aircraft, consisting of a maintenance section and a painting room.
2016
Conclusion of a contract with the Armament Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defense for the delivery and installation of the IFF combat identification system (the so-called "home-foreigner" system) on 16 MiG-29 aircraft from the 23rd Tactical Air Base in Mińsk Mazowiecki.
