Signing the Agreement on IFF systems for MiG-29 Aircraft

On Friday, November 10, we concluded an agreement with the Armament Inspectorate for the supply and installation of IFF (identification friend or foe) system on 16 MiG-29 aircraft. On behalf of the Armament Inspectorate the agreement was signed by the Inspectorate 1st Chief Deputy – colonel Piotr Imański, while Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze No. 2 S.A. were represented by the President of the Management Board – Leszek Walczak and the Vice President of the Management Board– Szymon Dankowski. The conclusion of the contract took place in attendance of Bartosz Kownacki – the Secretary of State in MOD.

The IFF system will be installed on 16 MiG-29 aircraft from the 23rd Tactical Air Base in Mińsk Mazowiecki. Apart from the aircraft modernization, both the service and test equipment will be provided as well as the so-called logistics package containing the additional equipment necessary for the system operation. The design and operation documentation will be developed and the training of the service, ground and flying staff will be carried out. The modernization will be performed on the premises of our plant in the years 2018-2020.
Within the upgrade, the IFF system will be installed on the aircraft. The functioning of new devices will be thoroughly integrated with the on-board aircraft systems. The new system, which is compliant with the current requirements (NATO), will replace the existing equipment that was installed in the 90s. The agreement is a result of several years’ activity conducted by WZL No.2 within the scope of MiG-29 aircraft modernization into the IFF system.
